For Sale: Mickey’s Italian Deli & Liquor
Mickey’s Italian Deli in Hermosa Beach is apparently up for sale, according to the Pacific Report, issued to commercial realtors.
Opened in 1953 by 22-year-old Michael Angelo Mance, the Italian eatery in Hermosa Beach is popular with beachgoers made famous by its subway sandwiches and pizza. For more than 70 years this local staple has been owned by the same family.
In 2017, the winner of a $27 million lottery jackpot purchased their ticket at Mickey’s, landing a windfall for the business owner.

Time capsule reveals… the year 2000
Members of the Manhattan Beach Leadership Class of 2000 showcased their impatience this week by unearthing a time capsule just 25 years after they buried it.
Maybe I’m just a curmudgeon, but I was amused at reading this story in the Daily Breeze about a Leadership Manhattan Beach class that dug up their own time capsule.
Excuse me? I thought time capsules were supposed to be left to future generations. Not for yourselves.
I don’t know about you, but I just thought this whole exercise was silly and self-indulgent. Unless you’re under 25 years old, we all know what life was like 25 years ago. How ridiculous. It didn’t sound like there was very little technology in the box either.
Torrance church vandalized 8 times
It appears a person with mental illness has been vandalizing a Torrance church in recent weeks. At least eight times someone has thrown bricks and rocks through the windows and splattered paint across the front steps of the Abundant Life Church on Cabrillo Avenue, according to Fox LA.
The damage has cost the church around $50,000, Pastor Gerald Abreu told the news station. The pastor believes the vandal is the same young man who was earlier arrested for breaking into the church. He also found cryptic markings.
The church has a GoFundMe for repairs.
Wayfarers Chapel relocation site chosen
A site for the Wayfarers Chapel has been chosen about a year after it was dismantled because of land movement concerns. The new site is located next to the Civic Center and City Hall overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Point Vicente Lighthouse, according to the Daily Breeze. Looks beautiful.
